Woolworths' Grabouw boerewors is robust, soulful and flavourful. Ground and spiced with clove, nutmeg and roasted coriander, it carries a warmth that feels like home. But pair it with a rich tomato smoor that’s unapologetically South African, and you've got a dish that turns simple into standout.
Ingredients
Method
- 2 T olive oil
- 1 white or red onion, thinly sliced
- 2 T tomato paste
- 2 g thyme
- 400 g Woolworths Rosa tomatoes
- sea salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 1 T maple syrup (optional)
- 600 g Woolworths Grabouw boerewors
Method
Ingredients
1. Sauté the onion in the olive oil in a large pan over a medium heat until lightly browned.
2. Add the tomato paste and thyme and cook for a further 3–5 minutes. Add the tomatoes and cook for 8–10 minutes, gently squashing them with a fork. Season with salt, pepper and maple syrup.
3. Place the boerewors under a preheated grill for 10–12 minutes, or until cooked but still juicy.
4. Serve the boerewors on top of the smoor.
