Ingredients

1 fresh white bread loaf, sliced
200 g Cheddar cheese, sliced
3 T butter
1 T maple syrup

Method

1. Heat a frying pan over a medium heat. Place a few slices of cheese between two pieces of bread and sandwich together.

2. Melt ¼ of the butter in hot pan and place the sandwich in the pan. Toast on both sides until golden brown and the cheese has melted, pressing down with a spatula. Remove from the pan and pour over a little maple syrup.

3. Make another three sandwiches in the same way.

Cook’s note: To take the ultimate toasted cheese to a whole new level, just add bacon!
